Welcome to SEGRA 2011.  We hope the following information will assist in your travel arrangements and attendance at SEGRA 2011. To access the most up to date program, please visit the website program page.

Travelling to Geelong – Melbourne Airport and Avalon Airport

  1. Arrive at Avalon Airport and take the Airport Shuttle which meets every flight and prices start from $17 one way
  2. Arrive at Avalon Airport and purchase a hire car or a taxi. Avis, Budget, Europcar and Thrifty are located at Avalon Airport - please contact the companies directly to book. Taxis can be arranged by contacting 131 008
  3. Arrive at Melbourne Airport and take the SkyBus into the Southern Cross Station and then take the VLine train to Geelong
  4. Arrive at Melbourne Airport and take the Gull bus which runs approx every 2 hours on the weekend and approx every 1 hour and 15 minutes on the weekdays (please check their timetables for current times)
  5. Arrive at Melbourne Airport and purchase a hire car. Avis, Budget, Redspot, Europcar, Thrifty and Hertz are located at the Melbourne Airport – please contact the companies directly to book. Please take the Tullamarine Freeway to the Western Ring Road/Princes Highway and follow the signs to Geelong.

Avalon Airport
Jetstar travels directly from Sydney and Brisbane
Tiger Airways travels directly from Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and the Gold Coast
Sharp Airlines travels directly from Adelaide and Portland, South Australia

Climate
October temperatures average minimums of 7oC and maximums of around 18oC.  Please pack a jacket/jumper for night activities and an umbrella in the event of wet weather. Light sunscreen may also be necessary.

Conference Dress code
During the conference program and networking dinner, smart casual dress is appropriate.  The dress for the other evening functions is generally semi-formal.  Delegates must wear full length trousers, long sleeved shirts and closed in shoes for the Study Tours.  Failure to comply with these health and safety guidelines will result in delegates not being allowed on sites. Study tour participants may like to bring water, hat, an umbrella and sunscreen.

SEGRA Registration Desk
The SEGRA registration desk is located in the Inner Costa Hall Foyer and will be open each morning of the conference from 7:00am at Deakin University.

Accommodation
Please note the accommodation venues will ask you to place a bond deposit down for your room either by credit card or cash. This amount will cover any incidentals such as mini bar or in-house movies. Any funds that are not used will be returned upon check out.
